Astronaut and Cosmonaut Medical Histories

Peculiar, yet interesting, list of astronaut medical problems.

During the 1959 selection, Conrad was examined by Brigadier General Al Schwictenberg and other physicians at the Lovelace Clinic. “Conrad is one of those people who manage a bowel movement about every third day, and the doctors made an issue over his inability to give a fecal sample. Finally he produced one the size of a coffee bean, and with some pride brought it to the clinic in a one-pint container. Plunking it on Schwictenberg’s desk he said triumphantly, `This is for you, General.’”
